I'm Suzanne and here is a little insight into why I created Aqua Massage Therapy...
My passion for massage came originally from qualifying in beauty and applied sciences in my late teens. Demand for my remedial Hydrotherm and Sports massage grew rapidly, as did my love of helping clients through the treatment and rehabilitation process.
I was then blessed with two beautiful girls and so pursued a different career. From 2013 to 2020, I was living and working in survival mode which started to take it’s toll on my mental and physical health, trying to balance raising my girls as a single Mum whilst working up to 60 hours a week in a demanding and stressful career. My body was telling me I needed to make changes and to take better care of my mental, physical and emotional health. My journey started by running more frequently and longer distances, which reignited my passion for sports and performance, but this was just the start...
In January 2020, two months before lockdown, everything changed…
…My youngest daughter, Grace, underwent spinal fusion surgery to correct a +85 degree scoliosis curve. Leading up to surgery her health was deteriorating and pain increasing daily, and although the operation has a high success rate, Grace’s was a little more complex.
Shortly after the operation, we went into lockdown. The start of rehabilitation after this type of surgery, especially for a 12 year old is quite brutal, memories of which will probably stay with me for life. At the start of her rehabilitation as her body was healing and recovering from surgery, she was inactive which was contributing to loss of muscle mass and decreased strength. Under medical guidance and using my previous knowledge and experience, I could safely and gently massage areas to manage the pain, increase movement, flexibility and strength, as well as stimulate the nerves that were damaged from the surgery...
In March 2022 I launched Aqua Massage Therapy …
...Seeing first hand how massage had such a positive influence on her recovery, it reignited my passion for healing others through the treatment and rehabilitation process.
Through Grace’s journey, my new found passion for physical and mental health and wellness, and keen interest in Sports and performance, I bravely gave up my management career to retrain and create my own wellness business in remedial massage.
At Aqua Massage Therapy, my mission is to positively impact the physical, psychological and emotional well-being of every client, by delivering a range of professional treatments to the highest standard. Every session is carefully considered to exceed your expectations through my individual care and attention to detail.
My inspiration and vision comes from my 102 year old Gran working as a Marie Curie nurse. Her mantra was, 'if i can leave this house a little bit happier than I found it, I've earned my pennies for the day', so I adopted it for my business too...
'If I can leave each client just a little bit happier and healthier than I found them, then I've earned my pennies for the day'
